Allowed: Core staining up to 1/3 of the diameter of the thin end, unilateral curvature up to 1%. Disallowed: Branches, stepsons, core and drying cracks that split the side plane, frost and lightning cracks, toppling and elongation cracks, compound curvature, double end, twin core, dry side, maser nose, core discoloration greater than 1/3 of the diameter of the thin end, rot, mechanical damage, storage rot (swelling), charring, metal.
Birch sawn logs B
Allowed: Core staining up to 1/3 of the diameter, unilateral curvature up to 2%, compound curvature up to 1.5%, healthy branches up to 8 cm in diameter in unlimited quantity, rotten and dead branches up to 4 cm in diameter, one piece per running meter. Disallowed: Core and drying cracks that split both side planes into both end planes, frost and lightning cracks, double end, twin core, dry side, maser muzzle, core discoloration greater than 1/3 of the diameter of the thin end, rot, mechanical damage, storage rot (swelling), charring, metal.

Allowed: Core staining over 1/3 of the diameter of the thin end, unilateral curvature up to 2%, compound curvature up to 1.5%. Healthy branches up to 8 cm in diameter in unlimited quantity, rotten and dead branches up to 4 cm in diameter one piece per running meter.
